Anthem MRX 740 7.2ch AV Receiver

Anthem’s MRX A/V Receivers are about maximizing performance for the money. Building on the success of their previous models the latest ’40 series adds the newest version of ARC Genesis room correction software, a redesigned and more accurate calibration microphone, Anthem Web User Interface, integrated streaming support and object-oriented audio codec support

Pure performance

Anthem has a reputation for creating high-performance home theatre receivers that put sound quality above all else and that are simple to operate. The MRX 740 is a great example of this, combining terrific A/V processing with high quality amplification and an intuitive browser-based control system. The large front-panel display gives you easy-to-read status updates at a glance.

Ideal for a Dolby Atmos home theatre system

The seven-channel MRX 740 is ideal for powering a 5.1.2 Dolby Atmos — that's the traditional five speakers and subwoofer configuration, plus a pair of upward-firing or in-ceiling speakers for overhead Atmos effects.

Plenty of power for each channel

Five of the MRX 740's channels are rated at 140 watts (Class AB amplification), and are well-suited for high-performance stand-mount or floor-standing speakers. The other two channels are rated at 60 watts (Class D), which is plenty of power for surround or overhead channels that reproduce less-demanding portions of a movie's soundtrack.

Intuitive web-based controls

One of the features that makes Anthem's receivers stand out from the crowd is their user-friendly control interface. Access it from a web browser on your computer or smart device, and easily turn zones on and off, adjust settings, alter speaker configurations, and more.

Advanced room calibration with ARC Genesis

The Anthem MRX 740 includes the company's own highly regarded ARC (Anthem Room Correction) Genesis software — one of the industry's best room-correction platforms. ARC Genesis measures the acoustics of your room with the included microphone, and then fine-tunes the output of your system to best match the unique sonic characteristics of your space. The resulting sound is clear, smooth, and ultra-detailed, with tight bass and impactful dynamics.

Note: You'll need to install the free ARC Genesis software on your Mac® or PC prior to calibration.

Versatile music streaming options

Connect MRX 740 to your network via wi-fi or Ethernet and stream from your music app of choice. Compatible with AirPlay 2 and Google Chromecast, the player suits most music apps available on Apple and Android smartphone and tablet devices. Bluetooth provides a quick and easy wireless link to your smartphone, tablet or computer for simple music streaming. A free, future update will also include support for Spotify and Roon, making the MRX 740 even more versatile.

Premium digital processing

Featuring premium 32 bit/768kHz, differential-output DACs (Digital to Analogue Convertors), the MRX 740 decodes digital signals to the highest standards. These high resolution DACs don’t miss a breath of the action and make both movies and music sound scintillating

Upgradable HDMI board - Supports Dolby Vision, HDR, HLG and eARC

Equipped with an upgradable, 7 in/3 out HDMI interface, the MRX 740 supports a wide range of High Dynamic Range video formats. These include Dolby Vision, HDR and HLG. It also supports eARC (enhanced Audio Return Channel), the latest Audio Return Channel system that transmits uncompressed surround sound signals, including Dolby Atmos and DTS:X, from your compatible TV, back to the amp.
