REL Acoustics HT1205 MKII – Performance Home Theatre

HT1205 MKII establishes a new performance standard for affordable home theatre subwoofers. Avoiding electronic gimmickry in favour of perfectly balanced priorities including a perfectly sized cabinet with solidl bracing, powerful Class D digital amplification and a premium quality 12" driver, not to mention the quality finish with a new black lacquer top plate that has a subtle REL logo floating on top, while the expensively wrought black line-grained composite for the cabinet looks fantastic.

HT/1205 MKII plays 50% louder than its predecessor, while also delivering more precision and subtlety. It is capable of output levels more commonly found in models well over £1,000.

Performance Home Theatre

REL’s awesome HT1205 MKII was designed specifically to answer the challenge of creating an affordably priced, exceptionally dynamic, pure home theatre powered subwoofer. HT1205 MKII is the ideal combination of a lightweight, modern 12” CarbonGlas™ driver coupled to a powerful 500W Class D amplifier that runs cool, producing extraordinary dynamics. Internally, REL developed specially adapted home theatre input filters that produce extremely flat bass down in the 20’s.

Purpose Built

HT1205 MKII delivers a tough, simple, purpose-built appearance designed to communicate its sole mission; devastatingly high output home theatre. The cabinet’s width is minimised reducing visual mass, whilst depth is maximised to produce the deepest bass. REL selected a tough, high-grade, horizontally oriented line-grained composite to wrap the entire cabinet giving a contemporary, purposeful look.

Twelve Inch CarbonGlas ™ Driver

REL’s driver prowess is on full display with the HT1205 MKII which features a modern 12” CarbonGlas™ driver that is both lightweight and extremely stiff. While many competitors drone along with relatively slow, heavy cones HT1205’s uses tough, stiff carbon fibre over 60% of the driven surface, backed by lightweight glassfibre. HT1205 MKII sets a new standard for affordable, high performance theater-specific drivers.

500W Digital Amplifier

Amplifiers do the heavy lifting in a home theatre subwoofer. REL use a true tier one amp supplier and the latest design does not disappoint with thicker boards, upgraded power supplies, and all the stuff that results in a brutally powerful amp with remarkable longevity. Additionally, the MOSFET power modules rated at 800 watts mean this amp is just cruising at its 500-watt rating

Optional Wireless Connectivity

By adding the optional HT-Air module you can connect the HT/1205 MKII wirelessly.  Unlike other wireless subs, the HT-Air uses unique zero compression technology. Using a state-of-the-art chipset, the HT-Air wireless transmitter offers flawless signal quality with zero compression, delivering a latency (lag) figure of just 16-20 milliseconds, it’s hugely superior to the more common Bluetooth method of wireless connection. Put simply, the bass keeps up and stays in time with the action.
