The QUAD 3 with Wharfedale LINTON speakers combines modern amplification and connectivity with one of Wharfedale’s most iconic Heritage Series loudspeakers.

At the heart of the system is the QUAD 3 Integrated Amplifier, delivering 65 watts per channel into 8 ohms with HDMI ARC, high-resolution digital inputs, Bluetooth and a built-in MM phono stage. It is partnered here with the Wharfedale LINTON, a substantial three-way standmount speaker with a 200mm Kevlar bass driver, dedicated 135mm midrange and 25mm soft dome tweeter.

Together they create a rich, spacious and engaging hi-fi system with plenty of scale, making this package particularly well suited to larger living rooms and dedicated listening spaces.

A Classic British Hi-Fi Combination

QUAD and Wharfedale share a long British hi-fi heritage, and the QUAD 3 and LINTON make a particularly natural pairing. The QUAD 3 offers enough power and current delivery to drive the Linton confidently, while the speaker’s 90dB sensitivity makes it relatively easy to drive despite its larger cabinet and 6-ohm nominal impedance.

The QUAD 3 combines classic styling with a thoroughly modern range of connections. Its 65W per channel Class AB amplifier is backed by a substantial toroidal power supply, while the ESS ES9038Q2M DAC handles digital sources with excellent clarity.

Connectivity is comprehensive and includes Digital Optical, Digital Coaxial, 2 x RCA line inputs, MM phono input, Bluetooth 5.1 with aptX HD, HDMI ARC and USB-B.

The QUAD 3 also includes bass adjustment, QUAD’s signature Tilt control and a dedicated headphone amplifier.

Wharfedale Linton Speakers with matching Linton stands

The Wharfedale Linton is a three-way standmount speaker inspired by the original LINTON models of the 1960s and 1970s. Its large cabinet, wide front baffle and classic proportions give it a distinctive Heritage appearance, while modern driver and crossover design provide a more refined and controlled performance than the original models.

Linton in a genuine 3-Way design and features a 200mm woven Kevlar bass driver, a 135mm woven Kevlar midrange driver and 25mm soft dome tweeter. The large bass driver gives the LINTON excellent low-frequency weight and scale, while the dedicated midrange allows vocals and instruments to sound open and natural.

Strong Bass and Room-Filling Scale

The Linton extends down to around 35Hz at -6dB, giving it considerably more low-frequency authority than a typical compact standmount speaker. Its 90dB sensitivity also helps it produce impressive dynamics without demanding extreme amplifier power.

Heritage Styling

The LINTON is finished in hand-matched wood veneer and retains the classic wide-baffle proportions of the original models.

The matching Linton are designed to position the speakers at the correct listening height while also providing convenient vinyl record storage.
