The Ruark Audio Talisman-R brings one of Ruark’s most important loudspeaker designs into the modern era. Inspired by the original Talisman launched in 1990, the new 2026 model combines elegant proportions, carefully considered engineering and a natural, engaging sound that reflects Ruark’s long-standing hi-fi heritage.

Designed to complement Ruark’s 100 Series while also working beautifully with a wide range of quality hi-fi amplifiers, Talisman-R is a refined two-way floorstanding speaker that places equal emphasis on sound quality and interior-friendly design.

Natural, Engaging Sound

At the heart of Talisman-R is a custom 17cm / 6.5-inch Ruark NS+ long-throw woofer featuring a treated natural-fibre cone, partnered with a 27mm silk dome tweeter driven by a neodymium motor.

This combination has been developed to deliver a smooth, natural tonal balance with excellent clarity through the midrange, well-controlled bass and refined treble. The carefully optimised crossover pays particular attention to phase integration, helping the two drive units work seamlessly together and create a convincing, spacious stereo image.

Decoupled Baffle Construction

Ruark has paid particular attention to cabinet resonance with the Talisman-R. The front baffle uses a specially developed decoupled mounting system, secured through elastomer bushes and additional damping materials to help prevent vibration from the drive units being transferred into the main enclosure.

Internal bracing and acoustic damping further reduce unwanted cabinet colouration and standing waves, helping the speaker produce a cleaner and more accurate sound.

Tuned Bass Reflex Design

Talisman-R uses a carefully tuned dual-flared bass reflex system to extend low-frequency performance while maintaining control and definition.

With a typical in-room frequency response extending down to 40Hz, the Talisman-R provides substantial bass from its relatively slim cabinet without sacrificing the speed and musicality expected from a high-quality two-way loudspeaker.

Premium Crossover Components

The crossover uses a carefully optimised second-order design incorporating premium audio-grade film capacitors, resistors and low-loss inductors. These components help maintain signal integrity while reducing distortion, contributing to the speaker's transparent and natural presentation.

Designed for the Home

The original Talisman became known as much for its appearance as its sound, and the new Talisman-R continues that philosophy.

Its slender proportions, gently angled front baffle and carefully considered materials give the speaker a distinctive yet understated appearance. A substantial machined steel plinth adds stability and lowers the centre of gravity, while also creating an attractive floating effect when viewed from the front.

Adjustable rubber feet and carpet spikes are supplied, allowing the speakers to be securely positioned on a variety of floor surfaces.

Flexible Amplifier Matching

With a 6-ohm nominal impedance, 87dB sensitivity and a recommended amplifier power of 50–250 watts, Talisman-R can be partnered with a wide range of quality integrated amplifiers and music systems.

They are particularly well matched with Ruark’s R610 Music Console and R710 CD Hi-Fi Console, creating an elegant complete music system, but are equally at home as part of a traditional hi-fi separates system.
