The Spendor A1.2 is a compact two-way bookshelf loudspeaker designed to deliver the natural, articulate sound Spendor is known for in a remarkably small and room-friendly cabinet.

Its sealed-box design makes it particularly easy to position, even close to a rear wall or in smaller rooms, while Spendor’s proprietary EP77 polymer bass/mid driver and 22mm tweeter provide a smooth, balanced and engaging presentation.

Compact and Easy to Position

At just 308mm high and only 186mm deep, the A1.2 is exceptionally compact. Unlike many small speakers, it uses a sealed enclosure rather than a bass reflex port, helping produce tight, controlled bass and making it much less sensitive to placement close to walls.

This makes the A1.2 ideal for smaller living rooms, studies, bedrooms and other spaces where flexibility is important.

Spendor EP77 Bass/Mid Driver

The A1.2 uses Spendor’s proprietary 15cm EP77 polymer bass/mid driver. This lightweight, carefully damped cone is designed to minimise colouration and preserve natural tonal balance, helping vocals and instruments sound clear and believable. It also maintains good detail at both low and higher listening levels, making the A1.2 particularly enjoyable for everyday listening.

Smooth High-Frequency Performance

High frequencies are handled by a 22mm polyamide dome tweeter. Its smooth and extended response complements the EP77 bass/mid driver, helping the A1.2 deliver an open and refined top end without sounding overly bright or aggressive.

Refined Cabinet Construction

Spendor has developed the A1.2 cabinet to minimise unwanted resonance and vibration. An improved internal bracing system reduces cabinet interaction and time smearing, helping lower the noise floor and allowing more low-level musical detail to come through. The result is a cleaner, more focused presentation from a deceptively small enclosure.

Easy Amplifier Matching

The A1.2 has a nominal impedance of 8 ohms, with a minimum of 6.4 ohms, making it relatively straightforward for a wide range of amplifiers to drive. Spendor recommends amplifiers between 25 and 100 watts, making the A1.2 a natural partner for compact integrated amplifiers as well as more ambitious separates.
