The Spendor A7.2 is the largest floorstanding loudspeaker in Spendor’s A-Line, designed to deliver greater scale, deeper bass and stronger dynamics while retaining the natural, open and easy-going presentation that defines the range.

Its slim cabinet houses an 18cm EP77 polymer bass/mid driver and a new 27mm soft dome tweeter, supported by a refined crossover, upgraded cabinet damping and redesigned reflex port. The result is a more spacious, controlled and authoritative sound without the bulk of a much larger loudspeaker.

Designed and manufactured in the UK, the A7.2 is an excellent choice for medium to larger rooms and for listeners who want the full-scale performance of a serious floorstander in a relatively discreet design.

Greater Scale and Bass Extension

The A7.2 builds on the strengths of the smaller A-Line models with greater low-frequency extension and dynamic capability. Its typical in-room response reaches down to 33Hz, giving music more weight and authority while maintaining the speed and control for which Spendor is known.

The redesigned reflex port sits closer to the bass/mid driver, shortening the airflow path and helping reduce unwanted resonance and midband interference.

18cm EP77 Bass/Mid Driver

A proprietary 18cm Spendor EP77 polymer cone driver handles both bass and midrange duties. Its carefully controlled cone behaviour helps preserve natural tonal balance and vocal clarity, while the revised suspension and spider design improve cone control, timing and transient response.

This allows the A7.2 to deliver convincing bass weight without sacrificing the articulation and midrange transparency associated with Spendor.

New 27mm Soft Dome Tweeter

High frequencies are handled by Spendor’s 27mm polyamide soft dome tweeter. The rear-chambered, wide-surround design operates with a lower crossover frequency than previous A-Line models, helping create smoother integration between the tweeter and bass/mid driver. The result is an open, detailed top end with excellent coherence and stereo imaging.

Refined Crossover Network

The A7.2 features an upgraded crossover developed to improve phase coherence, off-axis response and driver integration. With the crossover point set at 2kHz, the transition between the drivers is designed to sound smooth and natural, helping create a stable and spacious soundstage.

Enhanced Cabinet Damping

The rigid asymmetric cabinet uses Spendor’s dynamic damping approach to reduce unwanted vibration and colouration. Reworked internal bracing and Sorbothane damping help control cabinet resonance while also improving internal airflow.

This allows more low-level musical information to come through and helps the speaker maintain clarity even at higher listening levels.

Easy Amplifier Matching

Despite its increased scale, the A7.2 remains relatively straightforward to drive. It has a nominal impedance of 6.75 ohms, a minimum impedance of 5.4 ohms and a sensitivity of 85dB.

Spendor recommends amplifier power between 25 and 200 watts, giving the A7.2 plenty of flexibility when pairing it with high-quality integrated or pre/power amplification.
