Vinyl Ready

The built-in phono stage features a JFET-based circuit with precise RIAA equalization, optimized for MM cartridges. This high-quality, low-noise input eliminates the need for an external phono pre-amp, ensuring your vinyl sounds its best.

Versatile Connectivity

As well as Bluetooth for high quality wireless streaming the 778x also features a wide range of digital and analogue source inputs including USB, coaxial digital, 2 x optical inputs and twin RCA analogue inputs. RCA Pre-out allows for future upgrade to a more powerful amp if required.

High-Performance DAC

The 778x doesn’t stop at Bluetooth. It features a top-tier ESS ES9018K2M Reference DAC with ESS Technology’s 32-bit HyperStream architecture and Time Domain Jitter Eliminator. This ensures ultra-low noise and high compatibility with digital audio files, supporting sampling rates up to 384kHz (PCM) and DSD256 for superb sound quality.

At the core is Wharfedale’s proprietary 5" Klarity™ mid/bass driver, crafted from a unique polypropylene/mica composite. This material offers the ideal combination of rigidity and internal damping, allowing the driver to respond quickly and cleanly—producing tight, expressive bass and a smooth, natural midrange.

Complementing the low-end is a 1" soft dome tweeter. The magnet system and the front plate have been optimised to provide wide dispersion and improved integration. Together, these drivers are precisely managed by a high-quality crossover network that ensures seamless, coherent sound across the frequency range.

The cabinet is internally braced to reduce vibration and coloration, while the rear-firing circular reflex port enhances bass extension without overwhelming smaller rooms. This makes the Diamond 12.1 flexible in placement—on stands, shelves, or closer to walls.
