In 1979, the first prototype CD was revealed to technology enthusiasts in Europe and Japan. A year later, Philips and Sony teamed up to work on bringing this amazing technology to the general public and the first CD Player went on sale in 1982. At a time before online music existed, the CD became the most sophisticated way to store and play music and by 2007 over 200 billion CDs had been bought and sold around the world.
With the rise of music streaming services CD sales have declined dramatically but many of us still have large CD collections that we have spent years building and as any music lover will know listening to music can unlock memories like nothing else. Luckily for us there are still a select few manufacturers creating high quality CD players so that these valuable music collections can be enjoyed for years to come.
